A few months ago (yeah, it’s been a while), I did a write up on getting Game Pass Ultimate dirt cheap. One could even pull it off getting it for free, if using Microsoft Rewards, with just a bit of time (less than 5 minutes a day). I won’t go back over all that, because it’s linked above, and it’s been done. That being said, there’s an even cheaper, newer way to get this. Here’s how
A few months back, Microsoft introduced ‘auto redeem’ to their ‘Microsoft Rewards’ app via Xbox. This added certain things to automatically spend your points on. Right now, there are three options
- 1 Month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – 10,500 points (normally 12k)
- 1 Month PC Game Pass – 6.750 points (normally 7,750)
- $10 Xbox Gift Card – 8,750 points (normally 9,300)
As you can see, these are discounted from the normal price, since they’re set to be auto spent every month. The 1 Game Pass Ultimate redeem is currently the cheapest method to get this. Previously, the cheapest would be to save up for 3x month and buy out at 35,000 points. Calculating for 3 months, this would be 31,500 points. Earning 10,500 points is rather easy to do for anyone, as long as you’re using Game Pass daily, and keeping up with your weekly / monthly rewards. It’s simple.
So, how do you activate and use this auto redeem? I’m glad you asked. Here’s how
- Launch the Rewards app on your Xbox
- At the very top of the app, slide on over to ‘auto redeem’ (not redeem)
- Click on the ‘Auto Redeem — 1-Month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate
- Follow the instructions on that page and submit
- On the first of the following month, if you have the required points, a code will be mailed to you
- Redeem the code
This is great , because it allows you to store the codes if you got a deal on Game Pass Ultimate and can’t use them right away. It doesn’t automatically redeem the code for you, which could be problematic if, like me, you have 3 years already stacked up 🙂
