One of the benefits of being an Xbox Insider is being able to see new features before others can. In the most recent Alpha and Skip-Ahead tiers, some controllers are getting an ‘upgrade’ in functionality. From the release notes:
For the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and the Xbox Adaptive Controller, the Xbox Accessories app now supports mapping keyboard keys to your controller!

Eventually, they say, all controllers will see this update. For now, though, it’s just going to be the Elite Series 2 and the Adaptive Controller that gets this.
So, how does one enable this? Well, this depends on where you’re using your controller.
Head on over to the Xbox Accessories app , on either PC or console and you’ll be able to remap your buttons as usual. Instead of choosing to map them to a button, tab over to the ‘keys’ field and map the button to a specific key. Save , and you’re good to go
