Gamepass is the premium service from Microsoft for xBox and PC users (yes, PC users, you can use this, too). It includes hundreds of games that you can download or stream from your device. Depending on the level you choose (pc, xbox or ultimate, including both and Gold), you’ll end up paying anywhere from $9.99 on up to $15 / month (USD)… What if I told you, however, that you could get this 100% free??? That’s right kids. You can get your xBox subscription, 100% free! Here’s how!
- Starting Out
- Xbox App
- Phone App
- Game Pass
- Shopping
- My Rewards
Starting Out
The fun all starts with Microsoft Rewards . If you’re not a member, then get yourself signed up right now, because you’re missing out on so very much. Once you go there, signup, and you’re well on your way.
Xbox App
Next up? Get the rewards app for your xBox. Check this daily, because there are often new opportunities for rewards posted daily. Once a week or so there’s a 100 point bonus that you need to click on. Every Tuesday , there’s a weekly set that begins. This can be checking the app, or getting achievements. Speaking of achievements, well, you get 50 points per day simply by making an achievement in a game. Keep in mind that you have to remember to click the box (in the rewards app) when you do.
Phone App
New (to the US) in 2023:
Microsoft has introduced Rewards to the Xbox App on iOS and Android. There are 3 daily rewards for you to obtain
- Play a mobile game (usually Jeweled)
- Login to the app
- Play a PC game
While on your phone, you want to download the ‘Bing’ app and search daily from that (or just change your search engine to Bing)
Game Pass
If you’re a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber (and you should be), then head into that app, every Tuesday afternoon, and launch at least one game pass game every day. Every month, they launch a new set of monthly challenges, and every week , they launch a new set of weekly challenges. Complete those and you’ll earn points
PC
Head on over to the rewards website daily. You can earn quite a few points that way.
Also, switching your browser to ‘bing’ searches and logging in will allow you to gain more points there
Shopping
Now, I’ve gone through all of the free ways you can earn points. What about the ‘non free’ ones? Why, yes, those exist too… Here’s what I’m talking about, and how this works:
For every $1 I spend through my xBox, whether it’s apps, games, movies, addons, expansions, enhancements, you name it…. I get a certain number of points. It works out to roughly 1000 points / $10 . Since the conversion is $1/1000 points, that’s not the BEST payout, but it’s still better than nothing.
Since I’m a digital entertainment fanatic (movies, games, tv), I’ve converted most of my digital purchases over to Microsoft, through xBox. I end up spending more than I should (of course), but I pay my bills, don’t live in my mom’s basement , and enjoy my life. This is all part of it.
My Rewards
As of 2/12/2022 (today), I’ve cashed out enough to get me
- An xBox 1S
- 2 Elite controllers (second generation)
- A Backbone controller (for iPhone)
- YEARS of Gamepass Ultimate (good until 2/2024, haven’t paid anything except $1 when converting gold+gamepass to Ultimate)
- Tons of DoorDash credits
Since June of 2021, I’ve cashed out $220 worth of Microsoft Rewards points for various things. It’s completely doable. I mean, you can’t make a living off of it (duh), but you can absolutely get free stuff from it.
Enjoy!

June 16, 2022 edit:
I could do SOOOOO much better if I could only stay on focus and get that daily PC streak back up there again.
